SKILLED-NOMINATED VISA : SUBCLASS 190
POINTS TESTED - STATE OR TERRITORY NOMINATED REQUIRED

This visa is for applicants who nominate an occupation an expanded list of occupations to those on the Medium and Long Term Strategic Skill List (MLTSSL). There are additional occupations available that are specified in the Short Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL). You must have been nominated for this visa by an Australian State or Territory government agency.
 

Submit a completed expression of interest (EOI) in SkillSelect.

State and Territory government agencies can see your completed EOI and might nominate you for the visa.
 

If you are nominated for the visa by a State or Territory government agency the Department of Home Affairs will invite you to apply for the visa.

All State and Territory government agencies have their own criteria for deciding who they will nominate.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list

  • Have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation

  • Satisfy the points test with a score of 65 points or more

  • Be nominated by a State or Territory government agency

  • Be invited by Department of Home Affairs to apply for the visa

  • Be under 45 years

  • Have a competent level of English language

  • Meet the skills requirement

  • Meet Australia’s Health and Character requirements

  • Have paid back any debts to the Australian Government

  • Sign the Australian values statement

  • Not had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused

BENEFITS OF SKILLED-NOMINATED VISA

  • You will be invited to apply for the visa if nominated by a State or Territory government even where you score the minimum pass mark of 65 points under the Points Test

  • There is an expanded list of occupations available for this visa when compared with occupations available for the 189 Skilled-Independent visa

  • Eligible relatives can be included in the visa application

  • If eligible, become an Australian citizen
